studio ethos
My practice is rooted in continuity—of material, memory, and care. Each vessel is part of a living archive, shaped by site, story, and relationship. This page offers a glimpse into the values that guide my studio: repair as ritual, collaboration as co-authorship, and time as a companion.
-
Coordinates of Origin
On the underside of each vessel, you’ll find a set of numbers—latitude and longitude. These mark the location where the piece was shaped. An invitation to trace its origin, to witness the landscape that held its making.
-
Rite of Return
Ceramic pieces carry time. They hold heat, water, memory—and sometimes, they break. This is not an end.
Every piece I make comes with a lifetime warranty. If it chips, cracks, or simply needs to be revisited, you are invited to return it to my studio. I will repair it, restore its function, and honor its transformation. This offer has no expiration. Even if the piece has passed through many hands.
This is not a transaction.
It is a rite of return.
-
Collaboration & Credit
I work in dialogue—with photographers, landscapes, and loved ones. Each image, caption, and archive entry is co-authored. The lens is not a tool, but a collaborator. Credit is relational, not transactional.
-
continuity of care
The piece continues. So does our conversation.
Each vessel leaves the studio with its own pulse of memory. Once it enters your space, it begins a new chapter—held, used, witnessed. I invite you to share a glimpse of that continuity.
If you feel moved to do so, you may send a photo of the piece in its new setting. Not as proof, but as presence. A way for the archive to expand beyond my hands.
You can email me directly at studio@lauriejeanne.co.uk, or tag @laurie.jeanne.clay or #lauriejeanne on Instagram.
These images become part of the living archive. They honor the vessel’s agency, its journey, and the relationships it forms along the way.
